The Gift of Securities

The 2006 federal budget announced exciting news for both Canadians and Canadian charities.  Effective immediately, the government has eliminated the capital-gains tax for donations of publicly listed securities to registered Canadian charities.

This change will substantially reduce the after-tax cost of making a donation, making this type of donation even more attractive to Canadians.
